Are you currently taking strong pain-relieving medications, including opioids or gabapentinoids?

We are currently reviewing patients prescribed strong pain medications—including opioids (e.g. morphine, oxycodone) and gabapentinoids (e.g. gabapentin, pregabalin).

This is part of a national NHS initiative to ensure that the treatment you're receiving is both safe and effective.

Why This Review Matters

Opioids and gabapentinoids can be helpful for:

✔ Short-term pain
✔ Pain at the end of life

However, research shows they are not effective for long-term or chronic pain and may even do more harm than good over time.

The Risks of Long-Term Use

Using strong pain medicines over long periods can lead to:

⚠ Pain becoming worse
⚠ Stomach and intestinal problems
⚠ Dependence and withdrawal symptoms
⚠ Increased risk of falls
⚠ Risk of overdose—especially with alcohol or sleeping tablets

We’re inviting you to book an appointment with our Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
