On 8 March 2023, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published guidance on semaglutide for weight loss. This medicine is commonly know as the brand Ozempic or Wegovy®.
Ozempic is a form of this drug that is only used for diabetes control whereas Wegovy is the weight loss version of this medicine. Wegovy® is not yet commercially available in the UK.
Currently no patients can be prescribed semaglutide on the NHS in any form for the purposes of weight loss, nor can we refer you to any NHS weight loss clinics for semaglutide.
Please do not book an appointment for the purposes of having semaglutide prescribed for weight loss as we are unable to do this and it will prevent other patients from access appointments.
