Shingles Vaccination

If you are 70 to 79 years old, aged 50 and over with severely weakened immune system or turned 65 on or after 1 September 2023 you're eligible for a free shingles (herpes zoster) vaccination. Protect yourself from a painful condition and stay healthy longer.

What Is Shingles?

Shingles is a painful skin rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus. As we get older, our immune system weakens, and the virus can resurface; causing pain, rash, and sometimes serious complications.

  • Most common in people over 70

  • Can last for weeks or even months

  • Risk increases with age

Who Is Eligible?

The shingles vaccine is available to:

  • Anyone aged 70 to 79.

  • People aged 50 and over with severely weakened immune system.

  • People who turned 65 on or after 1st September 2023
